Steps to Strides is a thriving early learning centre in St Johns, Auckland. It offers highly personalised care and learning experiences for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. Set in a house with a large backyard, it has a very home-like feel and a sense of being with loving family. The teachers all form a relationship with each child. They see Steps to Strides as providing children with tūrangawaewae, a sense of identity and a place to stand.
REQUIREMENTS
After purchasing this small early learning centre from a not-for-profit organisation that had limited funding, the new owner asked us to help create a fresh name and brand. They wanted the rebranding process to be part of an improvement journey involving the centre’s entire team, so it was much more than just a property refurbishment. Their shared vision was a friendly and modern centre where a good balance between fun and education empowered children’s development.
The new name, Step to Strides, conveys the vision of empowering development and being a place to stand strong. This is supported by the logo of elephants growing in size - they’re linked in collaboration, echoing the mixed-age family nature of this small centre. Child-like line drawings of butterflies and flowers speak of fun and happiness. Blending these drawings with images of children hints at the power of imagination and suggests the quality of care provided by Steps to Strides.
